Assisi Assisi extends on the slopes of Mount Subasio, over the Topino and Chiascio plains. Even if it’s proud of its roman origins, the actual aspect of Assisi, both the buildings and the urban structure, have been determined by the development of the Middle Ages.
Perugia Perugia, the great "Arce Guelfa" rises in center of the region with its five historic quarters held by the etruscan walls: enormous ramparts made of cyclopic sqyuare shaped stones which are still visible for long stretches.
Bettona The little town Bettona can boust very old etruscan origins, as it has been founded between the VIII and VII century a.C.
Deruta The origins of Deruta in part are still unknown, but its old bond to Perugia is sure as it always has been a valid bulwark, southern located, direction Todi. Even today its aspect, a fortified castle, gives evidence of this.
Spoleto Even if Spoleto shows evident roman influences also in its urbanistic structure, it keeps an old middle age aspect due to the period when it first was Longobard Dukedome and than an important Center of the Vatican.
Gubbio Lay down at the foot of Mount Igino, Gubbio is one of the oldest cities in Umbria, marvellously conserved during the centuries and rich of monuments, witnesses of its glorious past.
Cannara The first news about the inhabited center of Cannara may give a probable date of its foundation during the I century a.C., but it is more credible that the camp called “Castrum Canari” by the Romans have seen rising the village only aftyer the barbaric invasions in Italy.
Torgiano Torgiano conserves a typical middle age aspect with its rests of the ancient city-wall.
Spello Spello rises up between Assisi and Foligno, lay down on one of the spurs of Mount Subasio, looking down on a fruitful irrigous plain.
Foligno Foligno is one of Umbrias’ rare historic centers which were built in plain, risen up as it is today on the bank of the river Topino, flowing down to valley. The area has seen drying up its marshlands with following interventions first during the roman epoque and than during the XV and the XVI centuries up to the definitive ones during the VIII century.
Bevagna The old little town Bevagna, with its roman origins is situated at the border of the plain in which Foligno is located, at the foot of a group of hills where also Montefalco rises near the bend of river Timia.
